ᑖᓂᓯ ᓂᐚᐦᑰᒫᑲᓇᐠ ᐁᑿ ᓂᑑᑌᒼᑎᐠ᙮ tânisi niwâhkômâkanak êkwa nitôtêmtik,
Hello my friends and relatives,
It's been quite hot across the continent this week, and will be again next week. I hope you are able to stay cool.
I'm grateful for the folks who were able to contribute to our fundraising campaign over the last few weeks. I received messages from folks who weren't able to afford to contribute, but wanted to let me know how much they supported us. I completely understand – we never want to create any stress for those whose budget is tight right now. With the cost of living what it is, especially the cost of food, we get it. Please don't ever feel pressured to give if you don't have the means.

Speaking of heat, I'm headed to Oklahoma on Wednesday to attend the Indigenous Journalists Association (IJA) Indigenous Media Conference! The IJA (formerly NAJA) is a collective of Indigenous journalists from "Canada" and the "United States."
I appreciate that the organization is cross-border, because our national borders are nothing but collective fiction. Many Nations have reserves that straddle the border –– borders are new, but we have always been here.

Support Indigenous Storytelling
|
After the regular conference, I will be staying in Oklahoma City
for a few extra days to attend the inaugural convening of international Indigenous journalists who are looking to collaborate on a global level. The idea is that we can work together to grow our audiences, build storytelling capacities, and find ways to share stories and resources in the same way many of us already do with partner organizations in our regions or countries.
How exciting!
Until next week, I hope you stay safe and cool.
